SCOUTING SUSTAINABLE FUTURES
This course addresses current practices in business design and challenges existing developments to creatively and practically explore the aspect of sustainability. We will look at concepts and techniques with a view to thinking about the design and development of sustainable products and services for the future.
Learning goals
After completing the course, participants will understand the basic requirements for corporate design and development with a focus on sustainability. They will be familiar with the concepts and benefits of design thinking for the design and development of products and services. Participants will be able to introduce and implement design thinking in the areas of empathy, definition, ideation and prototyping for practical, user-centered products and services.Content

Target group
Professionals in business management and marketing, as well as designers who develop scalable products and services and oversee design and development processes.This course is recognized as Bildungszeit according to paragraph § 10 (5) of the Berliner Bildungszeitgesetz (BiZeitG).
Prerequisites
- English level B1 (according to the European Framework)
- Own laptop (the course will utilize Miro, an application for brainstorming and presentation)

Dipl.-Ing. Stefanie Holzheu, Dr. Sang Lee
Dr. Sang Lee is an architect and a scholar with a Ph.D. in architecture. He holds a tenured appointment as University Docent at TU Delft in the Netherlands, where he specializes in teaching architecture and sustainable design. Dr. Lee’s expertise extends beyond his primary role, as he has also taught and delivered lectures on architecture and sustainability at various prestigious universities in the EU and the US. Dr. Lee’s contributed to numerous international conferences, journals, and books. His influential publication, “Aesthetics of Sustainable Architecture” (2011), which has attracted considerable attention. Over the past decade, he has expanded his research work to encompass a broad range of applications beyond traditional architecture. Dr. Lee believes that architectural thinking plays a vital role in fostering sustainability, as the built environment, including our cities, buildings, and objects, forms a large majority of our physical world and substantially shapes our daily experiences. Drawing on his extensive expertise as an architect and a sustainability advocate, Dr. Lee offers valuable insights into relevant topics and practical applications that are essential for the development of scalable products and services.
