This course is designed to equip you with the latest knowledge and skills in the rapidly evolving field of autonomous vehicles, systems and services and its social, technological and digitalization aspects.

The course has a cap of max 15 participants.

Why this course?

The course places a strong emphasis on presenting the main trends of autonomous vehicles and digitalization. Through close exchange with the lecturers and expert guest speakers, participants will gain specialist knowledge, whilst also working intensively on their own, practical project all along the course.

Methodology

This course includes a mix of lectures, interactive workshops, hands-on exercises, case studies, and individual projects to provide participants with a holistic learning experience. Participants are encouraged to actively engage in discussions and apply learned concepts to real-world scenarios. The course content is subject to updates based on the latest developments in the field of digitalized transport.

Learning goals

After successful completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Outline real-world cases, gleaned from European managers and policy makers
  • Analyze and use current and future trends in Autonomous Mobility
  • Evaluate application fields, potentialities (and bottlenecks) in the field
  • Formulate successful, future-oriented thinking about Autonomous Mobility and digitalization of the transport industry

 

Course details

This certificate course begins with a three-week guided self-study phase, complemented by three virtual sessions (tentatively from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.). This is followed by three days of immersive, in-person sessions in Berlin, offering an intensive learning experience.

Day 1 – May 7, 2025 – Foundations of Autonomous Mobility

  1. Welcome and introduction to the course (30 min)
  2. Introduction to autonomous mobility (1 hr 30 min)
    • Gain a comprehensive overview of autonomous mobility, its significance, and its impact on modern transportation.

    • Overall architecture: Understand the basic structure of autonomous systems.

    Day 2 – May 8, 2025 – Development, regulations and market insights

      • Field Testing: Explore real-world testing methods to validate autonomous technologies.

      • National and International Regulations: Stay updated with regulations from NHTSA, EU, UK, UNECE and other bodies.
